FCRA and sensitive-topic notice
Some GUIDEORA articles discuss credit files, credit scores, identity monitoring, and people-search tools. Those topics are regulated. This page is the short version of how we write about them.
We are not a consumer reporting agency
GUIDEORA does not assemble, evaluate, or furnish consumer reports. We do not provide official credit reports, FICO® Scores, or background checks for employment, tenant screening, insurance, or credit eligibility.
Credit education
Partner tools may show educational scores (often VantageScore or a FICO variant tied to one bureau). Those numbers can differ from the score a lender uses. We do not promise to raise your score, obtain a loan, or remove accurate negative information. Credit repair guarantees are a red flag under the Credit Repair Organizations Act.
For your official free reports, use the federally authorized source at AnnualCreditReport.com. Consider a security freeze directly with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion if you want to restrict new-account access.
People search is not screening
Consumer people-search reports are personal lookup products. Do not use them to hire, fire, rent, deny insurance, or make credit decisions. Those uses generally require a consumer reporting agency that follows FCRA rules, including a permissible purpose and adverse-action notices when required.
Information on lookup sites can be incomplete, mixed with the wrong person, or out of date. It is not an official government record.
Identity monitoring
Monitoring can alert you to possible misuse. It cannot prevent every incident. If you suspect identity theft, start with IdentityTheft.gov, the FTC’s recovery process.
