Aura Family vs Individual vs Kids: Which Household SKU Actually Fits

Quick take
Buy Individual if the dashboard is for one adult. Buy Couple for two adults without child tools. Buy Family if you need up to five adult identities plus child SSN watch, child-freeze help, and parental controls. The Kids SKU is screen-time and gaming alerts, not adult identity insurance. Confirm seats and the annual versus monthly rate on checkout.
Aura sells households, not a single mystery SKU
Identity products used to sell one login and a smile. Aura currently publishes Individual, Couple, Family, and Kids with different adult counts, device caps, insurance-style caps, and child features. The Family plan is the one that matches the 'whole family' homepage. It is also the most expensive. If nobody under 18 lives in the house, Family's child tools are unused line items.
Aura currently advertises a 14-day trial on these plans and a 60-day money-back window on annual billing. Use the window if the app is nagware you will mute. Do not treat the trial as a forever price.

Individual — one adult, ten devices
As currently listed, Individual is one adult, about 10 devices, three-bureau monitoring, Experian Credit Lock, title monitoring, transaction alerts, VPN, antivirus, password manager, data removal, and $1 million of advertised identity-theft insurance for eligible losses. It is the right cart if you are shopping for yourself. Sharing the login with a partner so you can skip Couple is how households lose restoration coverage for the person who is not on the plan.

Couple — two adults, not a child SKU
Couple is two adults and about 20 devices, with $2 million of advertised insurance-style coverage as Aura currently prints it. Parental controls, child SSN monitoring, and child-freeze help are Family (or Kids) features. If you have children and you want those tools, Couple is the wrong aisle.
Family — five adults, unlimited kids, the full household pitch
Family currently lists five adults, unlimited kids, unlimited devices, $5 million advertised identity-theft insurance, child SSN monitoring, help submitting a child's three-bureau freeze, family alert sharing, parental controls, digital wellbeing scoring, Kidas gaming alerts, and spam-call protection as a Family feature. That is the SKU if several adults and kids actually need monitoring. It is a bloated SKU if two of the five adults will never install the app.
Child identity theft is real enough to take seriously and rare enough that fear ads oversell it. A child's freeze at the bureaus is still the high-leverage step. Aura's Family plan is a way to get help with that paperwork plus ongoing SSN watch. It is not a promise that a child's SSN cannot be misused.
Child-related tools Aura currently ties to Family or Kids — confirm on the plan page.
| Feature (as listed) | Individual / Couple | Family | Kids-only |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult identity monitoring | Yes (1 or 2) | Yes (up to 5) | No |
| Child SSN monitoring | No | Yes | No |
| Child freeze request help | No | Yes | No |
| Parental controls / Pause Internet | No | Yes | Yes |
| Kidas in-game alerts | No | Yes | Yes |
Kids — controls without the adult identity stack
The Kids plan is currently priced as a cheaper parental-controls and wellbeing SKU: screen time, content filters, Pause the Internet, gaming voice/text alerts via Kidas. It is not Individual-minus-a-few-dollars. If you wanted SSN alerts for yourself, Kids will not do that job.
A simple chooser
One adult: Individual. Two adults, no kids tools: Couple. Kids plus several adults who will enroll: Family. Only screen time: Kids. Then still place adult freezes at the bureaus if new-account friction is the point. Aura's bill does not place those freezes for the adults automatically.
Editor take
Pay for the people who will get alerts
Family is GUIDEORA's pick when kids and several adults share a household and you will use child-freeze help. Individual is the pick when it is just you. Kids-only is for controls without adult identity monitoring. Confirm every seat on the cart.
