A Child's SSN After a Split Is a Records Problem, Not a Score Hobby

Quick take
Minors can have credit files opened fraudulently. After a divorce, mail and who holds documents get messy. Request a freeze for a child through the bureaus' minor process. Aura's family-shaped plans are a monitoring example — not a way to 'build' a child's score. GUIDEORA is not a CRA. No score promises.
No file is often the goal
A child usually should not have revolving history. A file that exists can mean fraud, an authorized-user experiment, or a hospital mix-up. None of those is a GUIDEORA score project.
Divorce forums will tell you to add the child as an AU to 'help them.' We will not. That is adult credit, with adult downsides, and not this site's job.
From the record
Protect the SSN. Do not season a minor's file on purpose.

Paper that actually helps
Birth certificate, SSN card control, bureau minor freeze instructions, FTC child identity theft pages. If a parent opened accounts as revenge, that is a legal problem plus a bureau problem — not a monitoring upsell.

May matter
- We do not recommend building a child's credit as a divorce tactic.
- IdentityTheft.gov has a child-specific path.
- A family monitoring plan is a camera, not a freeze.
- Keep documents off shared cloud folders you no longer control.
Aura's household bundle as a camera
Aura currently sells family plans that can include extra people. That may nag you about alerts. It does not replace a minor freeze at all three bureaus. Confirm who is actually covered.
Child coverage and age limits are live-plan facts. Read them.
Pros
- +Minor freezes exist for a reason
- +A family camera can still catch adult-side alerts
- +Skipping AU-for-kids avoids a mess
Cons
- −Bureau minor processes are paperwork
- −Two households complicate mail
- −Family plans still are not freezes
Freeze the kid. Do not 'build' them.
Use the minor freeze path. Aura is optional watching. GUIDEORA will not season a child's file.
Editor take
Protect, don't season
Minors need freezes, not mix. Aura is a family-camera example. No score promises. Confirm live.
