Import the Browser Passwords. Then Turn the Browser Off

Quick take
Export or import from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox into a real manager. Then disable the browser's save prompt and delete the browser copies. RoboForm currently documents imports. Confirm live. A leftover Chrome vault is a leftover stuffing list.
The browser was never the house
Browser password stores improved. They are still tied to the profile, the sync account, and whoever sits at the shared PC. A dedicated manager is a lock you chose.
Leaving both on means the next save goes to Chrome again. You will not notice until the unique password is only in one of them.
From the record
Migration is not import. Migration is import plus deletion.
GUIDEORA rule for browser vaults
A finish line you can check
Import. Spot-check email and bank. Turn off 'offer to save passwords.' Remove saved passwords in the browser settings. Sign out extra Google profiles on that machine.

Prompt
Turn it off
- Expect some broken imports — old HTTP sites, missing TOTP.
- Do not email yourself the CSV. Import, then shred the file.
- Passkeys in the browser may not travel. Plan a second pass.
- RoboForm currently asks if you can import. That is why it is here.
RoboForm as an import target
RoboForm currently answers 'Can I import my existing passwords?' on its own site. Use that path. Bitwarden imports too. This piece features RoboForm because the password section is about to talk about that offer.
After import, generate new secrets for email and banking. Old reused browser passwords are still reused.
Pros
- +One Saturday ends years of Chrome leftovers
- +You can see the reuse report in a real vault
- +The browser becomes a browser again
Cons
- −CSV leftovers are a leak if you keep the file
- −Family profiles mix everyone's logins
- −Some sites still break autofill
Import is the middle. Delete is the end.
Land in one vault. Kill the browser store. RoboForm is the example. GUIDEORA does not want the CSV.
Editor take
One store
Import, then disable browser save. RoboForm is a fair landing pad. Confirm live import tools.
